Kyiv schools will start on January 12 in a mixed format: details of the KMDA decision.
According to ТСН: The academic semester in schools in the Ukrainian capital will begin on January 12, and classes will be conducted in a mixed format.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
Mixed Learning Format
The mixed format means that some students will study in classrooms, while others will be able to learn online.
"The decision to implement a mixed learning format was made considering the deteriorating weather conditions, the comfort of Kyiv residents, and the need to maintain a stable educational process."
Each educational institution has its own educational algorithms for action in case of emergencies, as well as individual plans tailored to the specifics of each school.
School leaders are required to organize the educational process in such a way that all students, regardless of the format of education, receive quality education.
Preschool education institutions in the capital will operate in a standard mode.
Recommendations for Parents
Parents are advised to maintain communication with class teachers or other representatives of educational institutions, as well as to use only official information sources from the KMDA, the Department of Education, and district administrations.
If parents decide to take their children to schools or kindergartens, they should follow general recommendations:
dressing children according to the weather, as it may be cooler in educational institutions;
checking the contents of the "emergency bag";
following the school's official information and staying connected through designated messengers or groups.
Moreover, given the severe cold and challenging weather conditions, the government has initiated the transition to a special learning regime. Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko reported that the Ministry of Education and local administrations must urgently consider the issue of temporarily suspending in-person classes, transitioning to distance learning or extending holidays at least until January 19 for all levels of education—from kindergartens to universities. Final decisions will be made by regional emergency commissions, taking into account the real temperature indicators in each region.
These measures are implemented to ensure the safety of students and teachers in difficult weather conditions. It is important for parents to stay informed about changes so that children receive the necessary education without exposing themselves to danger.
