Russians attacked heating plants in Kyiv: over 500 thousand consumers without electricity.
According to ТСН: On the night of January 9, Russian troops carried out a targeted attack on heating plants in Kyiv. This led to power outages and disruptions in water supply in some parts of the capital due to damage to substations and lines.
This was reported by Yuliya Svyrydenko, head of the Cabinet.
“This time, the enemy deliberately targeted district heating plants — this is energy terror and an attempt to turn winter into a weapon,”said the Prime Minister.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, also confirmed that stabilization and emergency power outages have been implemented in the capital.
“There is a decrease in water pressure on the right bank, some outages in the Pechersk district. Problems with water and heating have arisen on the left bank. Specialists are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation,”he added.
The Ministry of Energy clarified that due to damage to networks on the Left Bank of Kyiv and in parts of the Kyiv region, emergency outages have been introduced. On the Right Bank, hourly outage schedules are in effect, resulting in over 500 thousand consumers being left without electricity in Kyiv and the region.
“As a result of shelling, significant damages were inflicted on electricity transmission system facilities — substations and overhead lines, as well as generation facilities,”said Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.
Attack on Kyiv
At around 11:00 PM, an air alert was declared in Kyiv, lasting until 4:36 with breaks for siren signals. Russian troops initially attacked the capital with drones, and later — with missiles.
They hit 12- and 24-story buildings in the Dnipro and Pechersk districts. Additionally, a drone fell near a residential building in the Darnytskyi district, and during the aftermath of its attack, it attacked rescuers.
As a result of the attacks in Kyiv, four people were killed, and 25 were injured. Among the victims are three residents of a residential complex in the Dnipro district and a 58-year-old emergency medical worker who arrived at the call in the Darnytskyi district.
This attack once again confirms the difficult situation in the capital, where civilian facilities become targets for the enemy. Energy infrastructure is critically important for the normal life of the citizens, and damage to heating plants and electrical networks only complicates the conditions of the winter period. Authorities and utility services are actively working on restoring supply; however, the situation remains tense.
