Cyberpolice warned about a new fraudulent scheme against pensioners

According to ТСН: A new fraudulent scheme has emerged in Ukraine, aimed at stealing confidential information from pensioners.

The Cyberpolice warns about this issue. Fraudsters send fake messages to pensioners in messengers, asking them to confirm their age for the "preservation of their pension." To do this, they urge them to follow a link and fill out a form with personal information.

"Be careful! This is a trap! The purpose of such messages is to exploit people's inattentiveness and extract confidential data. If you follow the link and enter your personal or banking data, you will actually pass it to the scammers," law enforcement officials warned.

The fraudsters may use the obtained information to hack into social media accounts, access online banking, and steal funds.

The Center for Countering Disinformation also emphasized that all pension payments and their assignment procedures are defined only by the laws of Ukraine. No changes can be made through anonymous messages on the Internet or messengers.

"Under no circumstances should you follow suspicious links, enter personal or payment data on unknown resources, and check information about pensions, social benefits, and allowances only on the official websites of state authorities, including the Pension Fund of Ukraine," emphasized the CPD.

Recently, a resident of the Ternopil region lost about 50 thousand hryvnias after falling victim to scammers who promised her a "winter thousand." This once again confirms the importance of caution and attentiveness when communicating online, especially for older people who may be more vulnerable to such schemes.
