January 2026: Calendar of Working Days and Holidays for Ukrainians.
According to ТСН: January is the time when winter holidays continue to bring warmth and joy, encouraging meetings with loved ones and planning for the new year. After the lively New Year's celebrations, Ukrainians return to their usual routines, but this month has several important dates that shape the winter atmosphere.
January 2026: Working and Non-Working Days
January 2026 will include 31 calendar days: 22 of them will be working days, and 9 will be non-working (Saturdays and Sundays).
Therefore, Ukrainians will work on January 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30. The non-working days will be January 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, and January 31.

January 1 — New Year's Day; International Day of Peace; Day of Public Domain;
January 4 — International Day of Braille;
January 10 — Metro Day;
January 11 — International Thank You Day;
January 12 — Day of the Ukrainian Political Prisoner;
January 17 — International Day of Child Inventors;
January 18 — International Day of Snow;
January 20 — Day of Commemoration of Defenders of Donetsk Airport; Autonomus Republic of Crimea Day;
January 21 — International Hug Day;
January 22 — Day of Ukraine's Unity;
January 24 — Day of External Intelligence of Ukraine; International Day of Education;
January 26 — International Customs Day; Day of Employee of the Audit Office of Ukraine;
January 27 — International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust;
January 28 — International Data Protection Day;
January 29 — Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Kruty;
January 31 — International Jeweler's Day.
Only the usual Saturdays and Sundays remain non-working. It is important to note that January 1, which was previously considered an official holiday, is no longer an additional non-working day after the implementation of martial law in Ukraine, according to the Law on the Organization of Labor Relations in Martial Law. This year, this date falls on a Thursday, so employees will work a full working week.
Thus, Ukrainians can take the opportunity to celebrate winter holidays at the beginning of the year, but they should be ready for an active work schedule in the first weeks of January. In particular, the Day of Unity, celebrated on January 22, is of great significance for Ukrainians, as it symbolizes the unity and independence of the country.
