Scandal in Sumy: the institution 'Asgard' teaches children using Soviet textbooks

According to TSN.ua: A scandal occurred in Sumy due to the institution 'Asgard', where children are taught using Soviet textbooks and Russian cultural values. The institution is unlicensed and unregistered, and parents pay about 10 thousand hryvnias a month for 'alternative education'.

The scandal erupted after a video surfaced from the New Year's celebration at the 'Asgard' institution. The activities of this institution have already attracted attention, notably it came under the scrutiny of the Security Service of Ukraine in November 2022. It is known that at least 8 children from two families attend 'Asgard', yet the institution has no documents confirming its status as an educational institution.

“We cannot even make a request to this institution because they are not an educational institution” — Alla Ryabukha, representative of the education authorities.

This raises doubts about the legitimacy of the education that children receive at 'Asgard'. Moreover, the institution emphasizes the development of children according to 'their roots, their culture', as noted by one of the representatives of the institution, Mivina. However, such statements raise concerns as the teaching methods may be perceived as part of a broader aggressive ideology.

The importance of oversight of educational institutions

The problem of 'Asgard' raises important questions regarding the oversight of educational institutions and their compliance with modern standards. The free spirit in the body of the woman behind the school and pure diversion — the opinion of volunteers observing the situation, indicates the seriousness of the issue that requires attention from state authorities.

The situation with the 'Asgard' institution illustrates the challenges that Ukrainian society faces in the current geopolitical environment, where issues of identity and education become particularly relevant.

This incident may indicate the need for stricter oversight of educational institutions in Ukraine, particularly regarding their legitimacy and adherence to modern educational standards. In the context of war and the struggle for national identity, it is important for educational programs to correspond to contemporary requirements and values of society.
