Shoigu Admits Ukrainian Strikes Are Becoming Systematic: Attack Frequency Quadruples.
Recognition of the Threat from Ukrainian Attacks
According to TSN.ua: Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has acknowledged that Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory are now both systematic and more effective. According to him, the number of Ukrainian airstrikes targeting infrastructure across all regions of the Russian Federation has nearly quadrupled by 2025. Specifically, 23,000 attacks were recorded in 2025, a sharp rise from 6,200 in 2024. Shoigu emphasized that the Ural region now faces a direct threat, and no part of Russia can consider itself safe.
Battlefield Losses and Territorial Shifts
As of March 18, 2026, the total combat losses of the Russian army are estimated at approximately 1,282,570 personnel. Over the past day alone, Ukrainian defenders killed or wounded 1,710 occupiers. Ukraine’s defense forces have also liberated more than 400 square kilometers of territory in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions.
Shoigu stressed that the threat of attacks on Russian infrastructure is growing, and this infrastructure includes:
- defense-industrial complex enterprises
- key energy and chemical industry facilities
- major oil and gas fields
- extensive transport infrastructure, including large railway hubs and federal highways
Shoigu’s statements highlight an escalation in the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as well as a shift in combat dynamics where Ukraine demonstrates its ability to inflict significant damage on Russian infrastructure. This underscores the importance of monitoring security and defense strategies in the region.
