Security Checkpoints in Schools: Response from the Parliament to the Attack in Kyiv.
According to ТСН: After the attack at a school in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Parliament began discussing the necessity of establishing security checkpoints in educational institutions.
The head of the Education, Science and Innovation Committee, Serhiy Babak, expressed his position on Telegram. He noted:
"Although I am quite skeptical about establishing security checkpoints in educational institutions, as it creates at least significant inconveniences for students both psychologically and logistically, perhaps it will enhance security."
Babak also reminded that in some schools, a pilot project is already being implemented with the permanent presence of security officers, and this project seems 'effective', so it should be expanded and made systemic.
"An educational institution is a space for development and a place where every participant in the educational process should feel safe. And not otherwise," emphasized the deputy.
We remind you that recently in one of the schools in Kyiv, a student with a knife attacked a teacher and a classmate. The police opened a case on the charge of attempted murder, and suspicious contacts were found on the teenager's phone . It later became known that the teacher is in serious condition.
This incident has caused public outrage and has become a reason for serious discussions on security in educational institutions. The introduction of security checkpoints and other security measures may become a necessary step in combating violence in schools and ensuring peace for students and teachers. At the same time, it is important not to forget about the psychological aspect to avoid creating an atmosphere of fear and suspicion in schools.
