According to ТСН: In Kyiv, a 16-year-old girl fell into a pit of boiling water caused by an accident on the heating network.

This tragic incident occurred on Lobanovskyi Avenue. As a result of the heating pipeline rupture, hot water surfaced, creating a dangerous situation for pedestrians. Immediate asphalt damage led to the formation of a sinkhole, and the responsible parties failed to provide adequate fencing or warning signs near the boiling water pit, endangering people's safety.

Incident Details

At around 4:00 PM, the girl approached the accident site without any obstacles and fell into the pit of hot water, suffering 73% burns to her body. She is currently in the hospital in critical condition, and doctors are fighting for her life.

A 53-year-old woman also suffered burns after falling into the hot water flowing on the sidewalk.

Legal Consequences

Law enforcement has initiated criminal proceedings based on two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Article 367 — official negligence that caused severe consequences;

  • Part 2 of Article 272 — violation of safety rules during work with increased danger, which also led to severe consequences.

According to these articles, the maximum punishment can reach up to eight years of imprisonment.

This incident underscores the need to ensure safety on the city's streets, as similar cases can have tragic consequences. It is important for responsible parties to take measures to prevent similar situations in the future by providing adequate fencing of emergency sites and warning signs for pedestrians.
