Issues at the Clinic on 30-A Boryspilska Street

According to TSN.ua: Patients at a clinic on 30-A Boryspilska Street in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district are facing inhumane conditions, with indoor temperatures dropping below freezing and posing a direct threat to their health. Recorded temperatures have fallen to -1°C (30°F), creating serious concerns as people must endure this cold while seeking medical care. This situation highlights the severe strain on Ukraine's public infrastructure, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing war.

One patient, Olha Vasylivna, described the ordeal:

"Getting a cardiogram done is a real trial,"
she said.

The clinic's sprawling size of 7,000 square meters makes maintaining a suitable temperature particularly difficult. A press officer for the Kyiv City Health Department noted the building's outdated design, stating,

"It's simply a facility of the old Soviet model."
This stands in stark contrast to the neighboring outpatient clinic No. 6 on Rohozivska Street, where rooms are a normal +18°C (64°F), underscoring the critical failure at the Boryspilska facility.

Despite the presence of generators intended to provide heating, the problem persists, captured by the phrase: "The generators are there, but there is no heat." This raises further questions about the clinic's management, especially as its director is currently on sick leave. In a related move, Kyiv City Council plans to provide a one-time payment of 40,000 hryvnias to residents whose homes have been damaged by failures in the water and heating networks.

Medical Staff Actions and the Regional Situation

Despite the harsh conditions, doctors at the Rohozivska Street clinic have taken matters into their own hands. They collectively decided to use funds, which could have been a bonus, to purchase inverters for heating their premises. This demonstrates their commitment to patient care even under extreme duress. Meanwhile, medical staff at a nearby railway hospital (DVHZ) have also had to find their own solutions, pointing to systemic issues within the region's healthcare system.

The crisis at the clinic on Boryspilska Street, 30-A, exposes critical resource shortages and management failures in Ukrainian medical facilities, especially during cold weather. Unresolved heating issues and unacceptable treatment conditions endanger patient health and have sparked public outrage, making urgent intervention by the relevant authorities essential.
