A woman died after giving birth in Kyiv: the doctor has been notified of suspicion.
Tragedy in the perinatal center
According to TSN.ua: A tragic conclusion to childbirth occurred for a 36-year-old woman in Kyiv, who died in a perinatal center four hours after giving birth to a stillborn child. The incident took place on January 13, 2023, in the Obolon district of the capital. The woman's death was caused by massive bleeding and tearing of internal organs during childbirth. This case has raised concerns, and the police have already launched an investigation.
Investigation and Consequences
The gynecologist who oversaw the delivery has been notified of suspicion for improper performance of her duties. It is known that the 50-year-old doctor has been suspended from duties related to the investigation. If her guilt is proven in court, she faces up to five years of prohibition from practicing medicine or up to two years of corrective labor.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that the woman died as a result of massive bleeding caused by tearing of internal organs during childbirth, as established by the examination. Oksana Holikova, a representative of the prosecutor's office, noted that the case will be submitted to court, but at this time, the doctor's guilt has not yet been proven.
Anna Knapysh, a relative of the woman, emphasized that the doctor left two minor children without a mother, who ask every minute when their mom will return.
This tragedy has become a reason for a broad discussion about safety during childbirth and the quality of medical services in perinatal centers. The investigation continues, and society is awaiting results.
