In Lviv, a teenager fell into an elevator shaft after trying to swing the cabin

According to ТСН: In Lviv, on the morning of January 2, three men got stuck in the elevator of a multi-storey building located at Mykolaychuka Street, 5, between the fifth and sixth floors. They decided to get out on their own, but one of them fell into the elevator shaft and fell to the first floor.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region, around four o'clock in the morning, three men born in 2007, 2004, and 2008, who were riding in the elevator, began to swing the cabin. As a result, the safety system was triggered, and the elevator stopped.

“While waiting for help, one of the men decided to get out of the elevator on his own, but he couldn't hold on and fell into the elevator shaft,”
said the message from the State Emergency Service.

Rescuers pulled the 18-year-old victim from the shaft at the first-floor level and handed him over to the paramedics. Although he is alive, he suffered multiple fractures.

The Shevchenko District Administration reported that no complaints about the operation of this elevator had been received before. It was put into operation in 1977, and in 2017 it underwent major repairs and replacement of key components, according to information on the Lviv City Council website.

Representatives of the State Emergency Service and police noted that all the men were in a state of alcohol intoxication.

It is reminded that in a high-rise building in Kyiv, an elevator with a person inside dropped.

This incident raises the issue of elevator safety in residential buildings once again. Although technical inspections are carried out, cases of injury due to user negligence, especially under the influence of alcohol, endanger people's lives. Experts advise following the rules of elevator operation to prevent similar situations in the future.
