According to a report from the Lviv police, the incident occurred during notification activities.

"Today, during monitoring of social networks, police discovered a video publication stating that on January 12, during notification activities, a municipal employee from Lviv attempted to interfere with the work of law enforcement. As a result, a conflict occurred. The leadership of the Lviv police initiated a service investigation, based on the results of which a legal assessment of the police officer's actions will be provided," the police report said.

City authorities' position

The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, also commented on the incident, condemning the use of force by the police officer. He emphasized that the situation has a deeper context.

"It's not from great intelligence that one can allow oneself to hit a woman shoveling snow. Under any circumstances. I urge the police to sort things out with their employees and report the results," the mayor wrote on his Telegram channel.

Later, Sadovy clarified that the woman in the video is a street cleaner, not a municipal employee. He also added that the footage shows aggressive actions by the woman:

"I saw how the municipal worker swung a shovel at a serviceman. And this is no less serious. Therefore, we will find out what happened there," noted Sadovy.
