According to ТСН: In Poland, a Ukrainian rushed to the aid of two 9-year-old girls who had fallen through the ice on the Bydgoszcz canal. Thanks to his quick actions, a tragedy was avoided.

The incident occurred near the fifth lock on the Bydgoszcz canal when the girls were playing on the frozen surface. During the game, the ice cracked, and they found themselves in icy water.

Actions of the Rescuer

Olexandr, who witnessed the event and was on the bridge, immediately decided to help. He saw one of the girls fall through the ice, and the other quickly followed. The man ran along the bank path to find the safest way to reach the children.

He encountered an elderly man with whom they found a long branch for the girls to grab onto. They pulled the children, who were already submerged up to their necks in water, using a scarf that the elderly man provided.

Acknowledgment from the City Authorities

Olexandr, originally from Sloviansk, who has been living in Bydgoszcz since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, received recognition for his heroic deed. The head of the Security Committee, Marek Jeleniewski, organized a meeting for him with the mayor of the city, Rafal Bruski, to honor his bravery.

This incident highlights the importance of caring and being ready to assist in times of danger. Olexandr's actions not only saved the lives of the children but also served as a vivid example for society, demonstrating the importance of supporting one another, especially in difficult times.
