In Vinnytsia a drunk man launched fireworks: he faces up to five years in prison.
According to ТСН: In Vinnytsia on the evening of January 1, a 45-year-old man, being intoxicated, launched fireworks despite the ban. Law enforcement is preparing to charge him with hooliganism.
The police of the Vinnytsia region reported that they received a signal that fireworks were being used in a residential area at the intersection of Vasyl Poryk and the 600th anniversary streets. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found that the violation was committed by the 45-year-old man, who ignored the prohibition on the use of pyrotechnics.
During a search of his residence, pyrotechnic products were confiscated. The man was taken to the police station to draw up a report – he was in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
Possible punishment
The investigators of police station No. 1 of the Vinnytsia district police department are preparing to inform the offender of the suspicion of hooliganism, for which he may face restriction of liberty for up to five years.
It is worth reminding that the use of fireworks, firecrackers, and pyrotechnics during martial law is strictly prohibited. For violating silence rules, a fine of up to 510 UAH is provided, but law enforcement may qualify such actions as hooliganism, in which case the fine may increase to 17,000–34,000 UAH. Criminal punishment and restriction of liberty are also possible. The prohibition does not apply to sparklers and firecrackers.
The actions of the man, who unwittingly broke the law, may have serious consequences. This case once again underscores the importance of adhering to rules, especially in wartime conditions when community safety is a priority. We hope this will serve as a lesson for others, as such violations can be dangerous not only for the offenders themselves but also for the surrounding citizens.
