Serbian Minister Called for Punishing Croatia: Kyiv's Sharp Response.
According to ТСН: Georgiy Tikhiy expressed his opinion regarding the controversial statement made by Serbia's Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Boris Bratina, who spoke about Croatia's 'historical responsibility.'
The Ukrainian diplomat suggested that the Serbian minister focus on the problems of his own country, as reported by 'Radio Liberty.'
'To Serbian Information Minister Boris Bratina, who stated that Croatia should 'pay with territory,' we propose directing such statements towards the territory of your own state. As the Ukrainian proverb goes: a fly won't fly into a closed mouth,' he said.
Previously, while commenting for Serbian television, Bratina called to 'punish' Croatia for its past actions, claiming that Croats 'must pay with territory,' instead of resorting to physical violence:
'Of course, no one intends to kill Croats merely because of their nationality. But Croatia should somehow be punished for its involvement in the First and Second World Wars, as well as for its actions since the early 1990s,' Bratina stated.
Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia has not provided any official comments on this statement.
Furthermore, it has become known that Serbia, together with European countries, is preparing for a possible war with Russia. President Of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic noted that the prospect of conflict 'is becoming increasingly evident.'
These statements create serious tensions in the region, as, in a changing situation in Europe, it is important to adhere to diplomacy and avoid escalating conflicts. Such remarks can have significant consequences for interstate relations, therefore it is crucial for countries to find ways to constructive dialogue.
