The Ministry of Energy warns about fake letters: how not to become a victim of phishing

According to ТСН: Ukrainians are reminded about a new phishing email campaign that supposedly comes from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. This is a fake.

The Center for Countering Disinformation reports that the emails contain calls for payments and attached files or links for downloading.

Attention to danger

"We inform you that the Ministry of Energy does not conduct such mailings," the Center emphasizes. It is known that such information may contain malicious software, which creates a risk of unauthorized access to computers and data.

"We urge not to open attachments, not to click on links, and not to make any payments based on such letters," the message states. Ukrainians are encouraged to spread information about the fake and trust only official communication channels.

Phishing cases

Recently in Mykolaiv region, a woman was affected by a phishing link, resulting in her losing a significant amount of money.

It became known that a resident of Bratska community, having clicked on a fake link for "financial aid," lost 100 thousand hryvnias. Law enforcement noted that the woman saw an announcement on social media about the possibility of receiving financial support from international partners. After clicking the link, she entered her personal data, bank card details, and confirmation code from her phone.

This situation underscores the importance of caution in the online space. Phishing is one of the most common types of fraud, and simply being attentive can save significant losses. Especially in today's economy, when every hryvnia in the account is important. Do not forget to check the sources of information and only refer to reliable websites and organizations.
