Weather Forecast for Ukraine in March 2023

According to TSN.ua: Meteorologists are forecasting a period of rain, wet snow, and a significant risk of flooding and ice accretion for early March 2023 in Ukraine. This volatile weather pattern is typical for the transitional period between winter and spring. On March 3rd, conditions will be cloudy with occasional clear spells. Nighttime temperatures will range from +3 to -2 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs may reach up to +5 degrees.

While no precipitation is expected in the western and eastern regions, a Level 1 (yellow) danger warning has been issued across Ukraine due to potential flooding. According to Ukrhydrometcentre, water levels on the Western Bug and Styr rivers are expected to rise by up to 0.5 meters. A more severe Level 2 (orange) danger warning has been declared for the Kodyma River in the Mykolaiv region.

Forecasters' Warnings

Meteorologist Natalia Didenko has warned citizens of a sharp and sudden change in weather conditions. Vitaliy Pistryak notes that temperatures will fluctuate from 0 degrees at night to +3 during the day, conditions that are highly conducive to the formation of black ice. Ukrhydrometcentre emphasizes the need for caution in connection with rising river levels.

Authorities are urging Ukrainians to prepare for shifting weather and to observe safety measures in light of the potential for localized flooding and hazardous ice. Given the forecast, residents should pay close attention to changing conditions, as they could impact travel safety. The combination of higher water levels and the risk of ice requires careful planning for any journeys. It is crucial to heed official recommendations and warnings from meteorological services.
