Amendments to the Law on Military Duty and Military Service

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has adopted changes to Article 26 of the Law on Military Duty and Military Service, granting citizens the right to be exempt from conscription during mobilization. These amendments will come into effect the day after their official publication.

Under the updated legislation, exemptions are permitted when circumstances outlined in Article 23 of the Law on Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization apply. Additionally, citizens may be released from service if a court determines that their conscription was unlawful. This measure is designed to prevent the mobilization of individuals who meet specific criteria.

Cabinet of Ministers Obligations and New Draft Laws

The Cabinet of Ministers and central government bodies have one month to align their regulations with the new law. Meanwhile, a separate draft law concerning the mobilization of women has been registered. It introduces a procedure for removing women from military registration if they were added by mistake. Under the proposal, women would be automatically removed from the register of conscripts upon request, and any fine of 17,000 hryvnias would be canceled.

These reforms aim to refine the conscription system and strengthen the protection of citizens' rights during mobilization.
