Gas cylinder explosion in Cherkasy region: house burned down, two women injured.
According to ТСН: A gas cylinder explosion occurred in Horodyshche, Cherkasy region, resulting in the burning of a private residential house along with furniture, household appliances, and the owners' personal documents. This emergency situation happened on the evening of December 31.
The incident was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).
“The residential house caught fire: the blaze engulfed the home and spread quickly. The local fire brigade from the village of Starosillya worked at the site along with rescuers,” the firefighters reported.
According to the information from the rescuers, two women were injured during the incident. One of them, a girl born in 2006, suffered burns to her face and arms and was hospitalized. The other injured woman, born in 1979, also sustained facial burns but refused hospitalization.
It is worth noting that on the night of January 1, 2026, a powerful fire occurred in Lutsk due to an attack by Russian strike drones.
Earlier, it was also reported about an explosion in a bar at the ski resort of Crans-Montana in Switzerland, resulting in several deaths and injuries. The exact number of victims is currently unknown.
This tragedy in Horodyshche once again reminds us of the importance of adhering to safety regulations with gas appliances. Currently, rescuers and law enforcement are conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the explosion and to prevent similar incidents in the future. Meanwhile, the injured are receiving necessary medical assistance.
