Kyiv residents are urged to prepare for blackouts: checklist from the Kyiv City State Administration.
According to ТСН: Due to the drop in temperature and increased risk of enemy attacks on critical infrastructure, the city authorities urge Kyiv residents to take care of their autonomy and comfort.
What the city is doing
The city services are working in enhanced mode and have developed new algorithms of action in case of blackouts.
In particular, 69 mobile boiler houses have been prepared, which in case of an emergency will provide heat to hospitals, maternity homes, social protection facilities, and other important objects.
Checklist for Kyiv residents: how to prepare
The authorities urge every resident to take simple but important steps to ease this period.
1. Find and save addresses
Check the maps for the locations of the nearest:
shelters;
warming points;
fountains.
Save these places offline for quick orientation if the connection is lost.
2. Electricity and light
Check the charge of power banks and portable charging stations.
Prepare flashlights, battery-operated lamps, or lamps with batteries.
Stock up on batteries, candles, and matches.
Pay attention to fire safety: it makes sense to buy a home fire extinguisher and keep it close to where you light candles or use a burner.
3. Warmth
Prepare warm home clothes, blankets, and throws.
Take care of insulated places for pets.
If possible, insulate your apartment: seal the joints of windows and place a special thermal reflective screen or foil between the wall and the radiator.
4. Food and water
Stock up on drinking and technical water for three days. It is also worth purchasing long-term storage products that are already ready to eat or do not require much electricity to heat.
5. Medicines and other essentials
Check if you have a stock of necessary medicines and hygiene products for the whole family and pets.
The authorities urge everyone to follow official announcements and take care of their comfort and safety in advance.
It is important to have supplies to survive the winter without electricity. The Center for Strategic Communications has provided key advice to Ukrainians in case of a possible blackout.
