The `eYasla` program in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Since January 1, 2023, a revised mechanism for supporting working parents through the `eYasla` program has been implemented in Ukraine. This program provides a monthly targeted compensation for professional childcare for children aged 1 to 3 years, significantly easing the financial burden on families raising young children.

The essence of the program is the payment of state aid in the amount of 8,000 hryvnias per month for families where the mother or another legal representative returns to work after the child reaches the age of one. This allows parents to ensure their children receive quality care during the period when they actively return to work. For families raising a child with a disability, even greater support is provided: 12,000 hryvnias per month.

Legislative framework and social impact

It is worth noting that this support mechanism operates under Law No. 4681-IX, which comes into effect only on January 1, 2026. Additionally, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law that provides for a payment of 50 thousand hryvnias upon the birth of a child, which further encourages families to increase birth rates.

Thanks to the `eYasla` program, working parents have the opportunity not only to return to work but also to provide their children with proper care during an important period of their development. The program becomes an important tool for social support for families in Ukraine.

Ensuring quality care for children during the period when parents return to work is an important aspect of social policy in Ukraine. The `eYasla` program can positively impact the balance between work and family life, which, in turn, may promote an increase in birth rates and improve the demographic situation in the country. Considering the planned changes in legislation, it is crucial to monitor the implementation of these initiatives and their impact on families in Ukraine.
