Power Restoration Underway in Kyiv, Yet Over 170,000 Households Remain in the Dark.
Kyiv Works to Restore Power After Major Russian Attack on Infrastructure
According to TSN.ua: A massive Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv's energy infrastructure left more than 335,000 residents without electricity. These attacks, part of a wider campaign against Ukraine's power grid, caused a major system-wide failure in the capital.
Utility crews have now restored power to 162,000 homes, but 173,000 families are still temporarily without electricity. Emergency blackouts continue across the city, and scheduled power supply rotations are not being maintained.
Water Supply Issues Compound the Crisis
Further complicating the situation, water supply problems have been reported. On the left bank of the Dnipro River, the Desnianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts are experiencing a near-total loss of water. Difficulties have also emerged on the right bank, with low water pressure reported in the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts. The situation remains challenging as municipal services work to repair the damage from the strikes.
Restoring the power supply is critically important for the capital's survival, as it affects not only residents' comfort but also the operation of essential businesses and emergency services.
The water supply issues in several Kyiv districts highlight how the consequences of the attacks are significantly hampering infrastructure recovery. Authorities and utility services continue to work under the difficult conditions of war to restore normal living conditions for Kyiv's residents.
