Power Cuts from Shelling Leave Kyiv Without Running Water.
Kyiv's Water Supply Disrupted
According to TSN.ua: Critical water infrastructure in Kyiv has lost power due to enemy shelling, causing widespread supply failures across the Ukrainian capital. This attack on essential utilities highlights the ongoing civilian toll of the war.
Supply Status Across the City
Water supply is almost completely absent in the Left Bank districts of Desnianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi. In the Troieshchyna residential area, water is available only at low pressure. On the Right Bank, the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts are also experiencing low pressure in their networks, while the Pecherskyi district has water only in isolated zones.
Furthermore, heating has been cut off to 5,635 apartment buildings. Of these, 80% are buildings where heat had only just been restored following the attack on January 9. The situation with water and heating in Kyiv remains severe, posing significant hardship for residents.
This crisis underscores the vulnerability of Kyiv's infrastructure amid the prolonged conflict. The lack of water and heat during winter creates severe additional difficulties for residents, threatening their comfort and health.
City authorities are expected to take measures to restore water and heating services, but this may take considerable time given the extent of the damage.
