Monobank Impersonation Scam: How Fraudsters Are Targeting Customers.
Scammers Impersonate Monobank in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Fraudsters in Ukraine are posing as Monobank employees in an attempt to steal customer funds. They are calling individuals, claiming there has been a 'suspicious login' to their account from another city. This tactic is designed to create fear and panic, tricking victims into compromising their financial security.
The scammers are using the phone numbers +38 044 325 03 16 and +38 044 592 40 76 to contact potential victims. The Center for Countering Disinformation has confirmed reports of these fraudulent calls, which pose a significant threat to bank customers. This type of phone-based fraud, known as vishing, is a growing global problem.
How to Protect Yourself
Experts warn that these calls are a direct attempt to gain access to your money.
"Under no circumstances should you confirm any financial transactions during such calls,"emphasizes the Center for Countering Disinformation. Monobank customers are advised to remain vigilant and not fall for the scammers' provocations.
This situation highlights the critical need for caution with financial matters, especially as cybercrime increases. Bank customers must be alert to any suspicious calls or information from unknown sources. It is vital to remember that legitimate banks will never ask for confidential data, such as passwords or PINs, over the phone. Always verify information directly with your bank through official channels before sharing any personal details.
