Ukraine to Increase and Index Pensions for Families of Fallen Soldiers.
Higher Pensions Approved for Families of Deceased or Missing Military Personnel
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a significant increase in pension payments and targeted assistance for the families of soldiers who have been killed or gone missing. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced these changes, which are designed to provide enhanced financial support to these families. This move comes as the nation continues to honor the sacrifices made by its armed forces in the ongoing conflict.
New Payment Amounts and Future Indexation
Under the new rules, effective March 1, 2026, the minimum payment for disabled family members will rise from 7,800 hryvnias to 12,810 hryvnias. Furthermore, the minimum payment for each family member will be increased from 6,100 hryvnias to 10,020 hryvnias. Prime Minister Svyrydenko noted that these adjustments will also apply to families where assistance is designated for two or more members.
A key feature of the reform is that, starting March 1, 2027, these payments will be subject to annual indexation. This mechanism is intended to preserve the long-term financial stability of the families of fallen defenders by adjusting for inflation and economic changes.
The increase in pensions and targeted aid represents a crucial step in supporting those who have lost loved ones in the war. The Cabinet's decision aims to improve the quality of life for these families by ensuring they receive necessary financial assistance during an immensely difficult period.
The planned future indexation of payments further demonstrates the government's intent to provide stability and adapt the support to changing economic conditions.
