Ukraine is facing severe weather: heavy snow, rain, and icy conditions in the south and east.
Weather for Sunday: snow and rain in the south and east
According to ТСН: On Sunday, heavy snow and rain are expected in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, as well as in some central areas. No precipitation is anticipated in other territories.
In the south, east, and most central regions, particularly in Kharkiv, significant precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain is expected. Drivers should be cautious due to possible icy conditions and gusts of southern wind at speeds of 15-20 m/s.
Meanwhile, warming will be accompanied by rain and icy conditions, moving to the south, east, and center of Ukraine, while frosts will continue in the north and west of the country.
Forecast for the capital and thermometers
In the capital and its region, cloudy weather with possible clearings and no significant precipitation is expected on January 11. Icy conditions may form on roads in places. The wind will be north-west at a speed of 5–10 m/s.
Night temperatures will fluctuate between -16 to -18°C, while the daytime temperature is expected to be between -10 to -12°C.
“Weather conditions may complicate the work of energy, construction, and communal enterprises and disrupt transport on roads and streets.”
According to preliminary forecasts, frosts will last for a few more days, but from January 15, warming is expected in most regions of Ukraine. During the daytime hours on January 16–17, a rise in temperature to thaw is possible. However, meteorologists note that this warming will not be final, as winter is not over yet.
In conclusion, it should be noted that weather changes may cause inconveniences, particularly in energy and transport, which drivers and pedestrians should take into account. Preparing for potential complications will be important in the context of unstable weather. Refrain from traveling unless it is urgent.
