Russian Strike on Rivne Region Leaves Over 10,000 Without Power.
Attack Targets Rivne Region
According to TSN.ua: On January 20, the Russian military launched an attack on the Rivne region, damaging critical infrastructure and cutting off electricity to more than 10,000 subscribers. The assault also shattered windows in several residential buildings and damaged cars parked nearby.
Explosions Reported in Rivne
Powerful explosions were heard in Rivne early this morning. Air raid sirens sounded twice after midnight, with the most recent alert beginning at 06:26. According to Oleksandr Koval, preliminary information indicates no civilian injuries, and all emergency services are working to address the aftermath of the attack.
"Critical infrastructure was damaged as a result of the shelling," stated Oleksandr Koval.
This strike is part of the ongoing, full-scale war Russia launched against Ukraine over a year ago. Attacks on energy infrastructure have become a frequent tactic, aiming to disrupt civilian life during the winter months. Given the current situation, local authorities and utility crews continue to work on restoring power and repairing the damage from the attack.
