Zelensky to Meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago: What the Leaders Will Discuss.

According to ТСН: The meeting between the Ukrainian and American leaders will take place not in the official Oval Office but at the private residence of U.S. President Donald Trump – Mar-a-Lago. This changes the nature of the conversation, making it less formal but no less important.

"I Am the Boss Here"

Erich Wad, a military expert and former advisor to Angela Merkel, emphasizes that the meeting itself is an important signal for Europe. Trump wants to demonstrate that he is the one making the major decisions.

"With this meeting, Trump clearly conveys: he is the initiator of the agreement, not the Europeans! This is extremely important for him. At the same time, the U.S. president is meeting Zelensky halfway by inviting him to the negotiating table," Wad noted.

Ukraine as an "Obstacle"

Peter Neumann, a security expert, expresses doubts about the possibility of a breakthrough for Kyiv, as he believes Trump’s geopolitical priorities lie elsewhere.

"For Trump, Ukraine is rather an obstacle to normalizing relations with Russia, which is his main geopolitical interest," Neumann stated.

He believes that a success will be if Zelensky can convince Trump of Ukraine's readiness for compromises.

The Factor of "Christmas Truce"

Political scientist Niko Lange focuses on another aspect. He points out that Trump may have been displeased with Putin's rejection of the idea of a Christmas ceasefire proposed by Zelensky.

"The question is whether Trump will be ready to increase pressure on Putin after this meeting," Lange speculates.

Zelensky plans to present a 20-point plan to the U.S., which, according to him, is already 90% complete. The document is based on American proposals and concerns security and territorial issues.
