Heightened security measures in train service

According to TSN.ua: Since February 6, 2023, heightened security measures have been in effect for train service in the regions of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy. The Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia implemented this step due to increased security risks in these areas. Special attention continues to be paid to the section Losova – Barvinkove – Kramatorsk, which remains classified as a high-risk zone.

Specific measures to protect travelers

In the Zaporizhzhia region, surveillance has been intensified. Travelers to Synelnykove and Zaporizhzhia are strongly advised to strictly follow the instructions of the train staff. In the Sumy region, trains must also necessarily stop near shelters to respond to possible dangers. These measures are a direct consequence of the ongoing threat situation in the country.

  • A replacement bus service has been established on the route Losova – Barvinkove – Kramatorsk;
  • A transit service between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia has been organized;
  • A new connection is planned for the Sumy region.

All these steps aim to ensure the safety of passengers and maintain transport operations under challenging conditions.

The introduction of this special regime for trains in several regions of Ukraine underscores the serious security challenges the country faces.

The measures taken – from enhanced surveillance to forced stops and replacement services – are intended to minimize risks for travelers. They demonstrate how the transport system is adapting to the new realities created by the military situation and the resulting dangers.
