Svitlana Bilonozhko on a pension of 5000 hryvnias: how the widow of the artist lives

According to ТСН: The widow of the famous Ukrainian artist Vitaliy Bilonozhko, singer Svitlana Bilonozhko, shared her financial difficulties and low pension.

Volunteer Activity

Svitlana is actively involved in volunteering. If she holds concerts, they are mostly charity performances. As the artist notes in one of her interviews, during her concerts she raises funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and if there is a shortfall, the artists contribute from their own pockets. When there is an opportunity to organize a commercial performance, Svitlana always asks to allocate part of the fee to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

'Yes, these concerts are charity. We collect funds: we have tasks set on how much needs to be raised, and we organize performances. Sometimes we even add from our own. And if there are concerts where we are invited for a fee, I always negotiate to transfer part of the money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is a must for me. Because the rear is also the front, we cannot sit idly.'

Financial Difficulties

Regarding her finances, Svitlana Bilonozhko admits that it is hard for her to live on a pension. She emphasizes that her payments are very low, and it is impossible to survive on them. However, the performer tries to organize her life in a way that covers the essentials. She also has an additional income - she rents out rooms.

'As for me personally… You know, my pension today is so low that I'm even ashamed to talk about it. I don't want to. Yes, I am a people's artist, but the allowance for this is symbolic, almost pennies. This is not even a pension, but rather a handout; it's hard to call it otherwise. However, somehow we organize our life to make ends meet – although honey, as they say, does not flow freely. We are looking for additional opportunities: renting out the property allows us to live more smoothly.'

Let us remind you, recently the anniversary of Vitaliy Bilonozhko's death was commemorated. Svitlana Bilonozhko honored the memory of her husband by paying tribute at his grave.

The words of Svitlana Bilonozhko reveal the difficulties faced by Ukrainian artists in conditions of war and economic instability. Her volunteer work and willingness to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine testify to a deep awareness of her role in society and support for those who defend the country. At the same time, her personal financial difficulties highlight the need for reforms in the social security system that would guarantee a decent life for artists who work for the good of their nation.
