Police quickly identified the female driver who struck the animal and left the scene. The driver, a 28-year-old local resident, was behind the wheel of a Mercedes with its headlights off at the time of the collision.

According to witnesses, a 57-year-old man from the area saw the incident happen. The woman was found to be sober at the time of the crash. After the event, authorities issued three administrative citations against her for various violations. She told police she fled because she was scared, as reported by the police press service.
