Ukraine Offers Drone Defense Expertise to Middle East, Awaiting Formal Requests.
Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that no Middle Eastern nations have yet formally requested Ukraine's assistance in countering Iranian drones. He emphasized, however, that Ukraine stands ready to deploy its specialists to the region should its partners ask. Zelenskyy made these remarks during an Iftar dinner held in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy noted that there have been no direct appeals from Middle Eastern leaders to date.
“Leaders from the Middle East, from various countries, have not directly approached us so far,” he said. The President also pointed out that the Middle East maintains close economic ties and relations with the Russian Federation.
Readiness for Cooperation
Despite the absence of requests, Zelenskyy underscored Ukraine's willingness to collaborate.
“But yes, if our partners do approach us, they can come to us, we are ready to share our experience,” the president noted. It is also worth noting that Ukraine has a 100-year security agreement with Britain, which signals stable international relations and a readiness for security cooperation.
Consequently, Ukraine remains open to cooperation with Middle Eastern countries but has not received any inquiries regarding help in countering threats from Iranian drones. This offer comes as Ukraine has gained extensive, hard-won experience in electronic warfare and neutralizing similar drone systems used against its own cities. The statement reflects not only Ukraine's readiness for international collaboration but also highlights the current lack of active requests from Middle Eastern states, which may indicate certain geopolitical dynamics and dependencies in the region, particularly regarding economic links with Russia. The existence of the agreement with Britain further underscores Ukraine's strategic interests in supporting international security.
