Attack on Odesa on August 14, 2023

On the night of August 14, 2023, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched 15 Shahed 131/136 drones and eight Kalibr cruise missiles at Odesa from the Black Sea. The city's air defense was audible for several hours. Most of the enemy UAVs were shot down, but their debris caused damage to civilian structures.

A dormitory of one of the educational institutions and a residential building were damaged. The shockwave shattered windows in several buildings, and vehicles of residents were affected. Fires broke out at three sites. Unfortunately, three people were injured, two of whom were hospitalized.

'This was another brutal attack by the Russians. The shockwave shattered windows in residential buildings, damaged balconies, and caused fires in several buildings,' said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov at the time.

Destruction of the FOZZY hypermarket

As a result of a Kalibr missile hitting, the FOZZY hypermarket on Balkivska was completely destroyed. A fire broke out, which DSNS workers extinguished for several hours.

After inspecting the building, the FOZZY chain management stated that it would not be subject to restoration. The hypermarket is still not operational.

The prosecutor's office opened a case

After the attack on August 14, the Office of the General Prosecutor opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (committing war crimes), as the city's civilian infrastructure was under attack.
