In Lviv, extortionists detained for 120 thousand dollars: they threatened the family and assaulted.
According to ТСН: In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained two criminals who demanded 120 thousand dollars from the victim for a non-existent debt. Using psychological pressure and physical violence, they threatened the man's relatives and damaged his car.
Detention of the criminals
The detainees turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Lviv and a 29-year-old resident of Boryslav, who already had problems with the law. Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department, together with investigators, identified the suspects under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the sphere of defense of the Western region.
Actions of the criminals
On November 27, the victim handed over the first part of the payment — 1,400 dollars and a watch worth 80 thousand hryvnias. The criminals brutally beat the man, causing him bodily injuries, and also damaged the bumper, headlight, and wing of his car.
Detention and evidence
On December 3, law enforcement officers detained the suspects in Lviv when they received the second part of the money from the victim — 5,000 dollars. During authorized searches, they seized mobile phones, money obtained from criminal activities, and other material evidence.
Cases in court
The defendants have already been notified of suspicion under Article 189, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (extortion). According to the penalty of the article, they face imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
Moreover, it was previously reported about a case in Kyiv where fraudsters extorted valuables worth 37.5 million hryvnias under the guise of 'SBU courier'.
This case highlights the seriousness of the problem of extortion and fraud in Ukraine, where criminals increasingly resort to violence to achieve their goals. Law enforcement continues active work to prevent such crimes and bring the guilty to justice.
