Ukrainian Military Operations

According to TSN.ua: Between early January and March 10, 2026, Ukrainian troops reclaimed more than 400 square kilometers of territory during successful operations on the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole fronts. Defense forces have advanced to within roughly 2 kilometers of the strategically vital Huliaipole–Velyka Novosilka highway. In response, the Russian command is deploying reserve units amid growing fears of a frontline breakdown.

As of March 17, 2026, total Russian military losses have exceeded 1.28 million personnel. Over the past three months, Ukraine eliminated 30,000, 35,000, and 28,000 Russian soldiers respectively. The number of combat engagements across the front reached 217, with 57 attacks recorded on the Pokrovsk axis and 36 on the Kostiantynivka axis.

Key Advances by Ukrainian Forces

During active combat operations, Ukrainian forces achieved several important gains. They entered the settlement of Sichneve, pushed toward Voskresenska, expanded their control in the direction of Novoivanivka, consolidated positions in Novomykolaivka, and now fully hold the village of Rybne. Meanwhile, the enemy is heavily deploying FAB-3000 glide bombs on the Kostiantynivka axis in an attempt to destroy Ukrainian positions.

As military analyst Stanislav Kocherha noted, 'The river separates the enemy's rear from its forward positions.'

The frontline situation remains tense, with both sides continuing active hostilities. Ukrainian forces are demonstrating resilience and determination in their effort to liberate occupied territory.

These successful operations highlight Ukraine's strategic activity along the front, which could shape the conflict's future trajectory. Given Russia's heavy losses and the intensity of fighting on both sides, the situation is likely to remain volatile. Operations on the Huliaipole axis, in particular, are critical for securing control over key transport routes, directly impacting logistics and troop supply in the region.
