According to TSN.ua: A 16-year-old girl has died following an appendectomy in the city of Voznesensk, located in the Mykolaiv region. She was admitted to the Voznesensk City Hospital on March 16, 2023, where surgeons performed the procedure to remove her appendix. However, her condition took a sudden turn for the worse shortly after the operation, prompting an urgent transfer to the regional children's hospital.
At the new medical facility, doctors diagnosed her with sepsis—a life-threatening complication. Despite undergoing a second surgery, the teenager's health continued to deteriorate, and she slipped into a coma. Tragically, she passed away on March 28, 2023, without regaining consciousness.
Investigation Underway
In response to the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 140, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The medical staff involved in her treatment could face up to three years in prison if found guilty. This case has sparked public outrage and demands for a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
