Russia attacked energy facilities at night: mass outages in four regions

According to ТСН: The Russian Armed Forces attacked energy facilities in several Ukrainian regions with drones on the night of December 31 and in the morning, leading to power outages in the Donetsk, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions.

The situation with power outages in the Donetsk and Odesa regions remains complicated. Emergency restoration work is ongoing in all accessible areas, considering the security situation. Energy workers are taking measures to restore the equipment to operation as quickly as possible after the attacks.

Situation with electricity supply

As a result of previous large-scale missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure, restrictions on electricity consumption have been introduced in most regions of Ukraine. Power restriction schedules are applied for industrial enterprises and businesses, as well as hourly outages for all consumers.

Moreover, due to challenging weather conditions, including strong winds and the accumulation of wet snow, 14 settlements in the Ternopil region remain without electricity in the morning. Emergency crews of the energy company are actively working to restore damaged power networks.

Earlier, DTEK reported that on the night of December 31, Russian troops attacked two energy facilities of the company in the Odesa region, causing significant damage to the infrastructure. The company emphasized that restoring the equipment will take a long time.

Such attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure not only undermine the stability of electricity supply but also threaten the lives of local residents, as energy systems operate at their limits during the winter period. Repair crews are trying to respond promptly to the situation, but challenges related to weather conditions and security complicate their work.
