Ukraine's State Statistics Service to Survey 18,000 Households Using EU Model: What to Expect in 2026.
EU-SILC Survey Launch in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's State Statistics Service has announced the launch of its first survey on household income and living conditions, following the European Union's EU-SILC methodology. The survey will run from March to June 2026. This initiative aligns Ukraine's data collection practices with EU standards, a key step toward deeper integration with European social policy frameworks.
Statisticians have already selected over 18,000 households across 22 regions of Ukraine to take part. Notably, the survey will not be conducted in areas with active hostilities or in temporarily occupied territories. Participation is entirely voluntary, highlighting the need for respondents' consent in the data-gathering process.
Survey Format
Participants can choose from three convenient options:
- In-person interview
- Phone interview
- Online questionnaire
This flexible approach aims to maximize accessibility and ensure data is collected from a wide range of sources. The questionnaire will cover various aspects of household life, including gender, date of birth, health status, and income levels.
Ultimately, the EU-SILC survey seeks to gather detailed insights into the living conditions and incomes of Ukrainians, providing a critical foundation for shaping social policy in the country.
Launching the EU-SILC survey marks a major milestone in collecting up-to-date socioeconomic data on Ukraine's population, enabling the government to better assess citizens' needs. The findings could inform the design of more effective social programs and policies, helping to improve quality of life amid the ongoing war and economic challenges.
