False Information Circulates Regarding Kyiv's Water Supply

According to TSN.ua: Unfounded rumors about scheduled water rationing in Kyiv are spreading on Telegram channels, claims that have been officially denied by both the Kyivvodokanal utility and the Center for Countering Disinformation. Official statements confirm that Kyivvodokanal has not implemented any water supply schedules, and no such information is present on the resources of the utility or the city authorities.

"In reality, no water supply schedules have been introduced in the capital," states the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Water supply in the capital has now been fully restored. Any temporary lack of water on upper floors is likely linked only to power outages affecting pump operations, not to the implementation of any rationing system. This incident follows a similar pattern from last week, when fake information about gas supply schedules in the Khmelnytskyi region circulated on Telegram; Naftogaz of Ukraine assured the public that no supply restrictions were in place or planned.

The Critical Need for Verified Information Sources

This situation underscores the ongoing challenge of combating disinformation, particularly as society navigates crises in the energy and utility sectors. The spread of false claims can easily trigger public panic and disrupt social order. For context, disinformation campaigns often target critical infrastructure during times of strain to sow confusion.

Authorities and responsible agencies continue to stress the necessity of treating unverified information circulating on social media and in other channels with extreme caution.
