Andriy Melnyk’s Address at the UN Security Council

According to TSN.ua: Speaking at the United Nations Security Council in New York, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative Andriy Melnyk dismissed the Kremlin’s distorted view of the battlefield and accused Moscow of using diplomacy as a stalling tactic. He asserted that after more than four years of conflict, Russia has failed to accomplish any of its strategic objectives. Despite occupying roughly 9,300 square kilometers of Ukrainian land, Melnyk emphasized that Ukrainian forces are actively shifting the dynamics on the front lines.

Melnyk pointed to Russia’s mounting economic troubles, including stagnation and budget shortfalls, as signs of its weakening position.

“We are witnessing a well-orchestrated charade that Moscow continues to stage,”
he remarked, criticizing Russia’s behavior on the global stage.

Current Situation Assessment

Describing the ongoing war as “the longest ‘three-day blitzkrieg’ in history,” now stretching beyond four years, Melnyk called on Russia to stop its deceit and withdraw from Ukraine. He stressed that Ukrainian troops remain resolute in defending their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Melnyk’s statements at the UN Security Council underscore the critical need for continued international support for Ukraine amid the protracted war with Russia. By highlighting the Kremlin’s failure to meet its strategic aims, Ukraine is rallying global action to restore its borders. Russia’s economic difficulties may hinder its ability to sustain military operations, potentially opening pathways for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
