New Pension Amounts Announced: Ukraine to Increase Payments from March 1.
Pension Indexation in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Starting March 1, 2026, Ukraine has implemented a scheduled pension indexation affecting various groups of citizens. This adjustment was made possible by factoring in the rise in average salaries. Under government resolution No. 236, the coefficient for calculating pensions has been set at 1.121. The minimum pension increase is 100 hryvnias, while the maximum supplement is capped at 2,595 hryvnias. This indexation is part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to adjust social benefits to economic changes.
Payments for Different Population Groups
Special attention has been given to pensions for various demographic groups. The minimum payment for individuals with Group I disabilities is 3,725 hryvnias. Pensions for military personnel with disabilities vary by group:
- Group I receives over 8,100 hryvnias;
- Group II receives around 7,400 hryvnias;
- Group III receives over 7,100 hryvnias.
For those affected by the Chornobyl disaster, the following payments have been established:
- Group I – over 11,000 hryvnias;
- Group II – over 8,800 hryvnias;
- Group III – around 6,800 hryvnias.
Additionally, persons with war-related disabilities and combatants also receive substantial payments. For this category of retirees, the amounts are as follows:
- Group I – 18,885 hryvnias;
- Group II – 15,494 hryvnias;
- Group III – 10,625 hryvnias.
Combatants receive no less than 6,197 hryvnias. As part of this indexation, mandatory identification has also been introduced for certain pensioner categories, with the deadline set for April 1.
Overall, the pension indexation in Ukraine aims to enhance the financial security of various population groups, thereby positively impacting social protection. This initiative represents a significant step toward improving the living conditions of retirees, especially those with special needs and war veterans. The pension increases may help reduce poverty among vulnerable groups and ensure them a more dignified standard of living.
