Enhanced Financial Support for Families of Fallen Defenders

According to TSN.ua: The Ukrainian government has approved a significant increase in financial support for the families of soldiers who have been killed in action or are missing. This change will take effect on March 1, 2026, when the new payment amounts will begin to be disbursed. This move is part of ongoing efforts to support those affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Under the new rules, the minimum payment for immediate family members will be 12,810 hryvnias, a substantial rise from the previous 7,800 hryvnias. Furthermore, the minimum amount for each of multiple recipients of aid will increase to 10,020 hryvnias, up from 6,100 hryvnias. This decision is designed to improve the financial situation of those who have lost loved ones in the war.

Automatic Payment Increases Planned

Additionally, an automatic increase in payments is scheduled for March 1, 2027, which will provide further support to the families of the deceased. All necessary funds for implementing these changes have already been allocated in the Pension Fund's budget for 2026, as noted by Denis Ulyutin.

  • Non-working parents
  • Wife or husband
  • An only child, if they are the sole recipient of aid in the family

These measures aim to ensure proper support for those most in need during times of loss.

This Cabinet of Ministers decision represents a crucial step in supporting families who have suffered losses due to the war and reflects the state's commitment to providing dignified living conditions for those left without a breadwinner.

The increase in payments demonstrates the government's intent to address the needs of the families of fallen defenders and to secure the necessary financial assistance for them.
