Teacher in Poland incited children against Ukrainian students: authorities claim the recording was edited.
Incident in Slupsk
According to TSN.ua: In the Polish city of Slupsk, a teacher called Ukrainian students 'trash' and incited other children against them, resulting in a brutal beating of the Ukrainians. Local authorities claim that the teacher did not use offensive words and that the audio recording was edited.
The conflict began during the screening of a film dedicated to the anniversary of the restoration of Poland's independence. It is known that a student of Ukrainian origin committed physical violence against a student of Polish origin. Authorities assert that the recording featuring the teacher's voice was 'cut and edited'. The teacher denied having referred to the Ukrainian students as 'trash'.
Reactions in Ukraine and Poland
In Ukraine, on the other hand, it is claimed that the teacher insulted the students and threatened them that they would not pass their exams. The phrase that the teacher allegedly said is as follows:
“When you take the exam next time, you will definitely fail it. Because I will show you who a Pole is - the teacher”.
In Siedlce, parents demanded not to admit children from Ukraine to their classes. It is important to note that from September 1, 2024, Poland has required all Ukrainian students to study in Polish schools. This situation has raised concerns among the Ukrainian community and raised questions about the treatment of Ukrainian students in Polish educational institutions.
This incident highlights the tension between Ukrainian and Polish students in the context of the increasing number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The Polish authorities, trying to find a balance between the integration of Ukrainians into the education system and preserving national identity, face challenges that could exacerbate social tensions. This situation also opens a discussion about the necessity of measures to prevent discrimination and violence in educational institutions, as well as the importance of supporting intercultural dialogue.
