Russian Strikes on Zaporizhzhia Leave More Than 53,000 Without Power.
February 4th Attacks by Russian Forces
According to TSN.ua: On February 4th, Russian military forces launched targeted strikes against residential areas and infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed that these attacks resulted in a widespread power outage, leaving over 53,000 subscribers without electricity. This assault is part of a broader pattern of Russian aggression against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
On the same day, Russian troops also shelled the city of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region. Furthermore, overnight into February 4th, the Russian army attacked the Sumy region, causing power cuts in the Konotop district. These coordinated attacks across multiple regions underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
Humanitarian Impact of the Assaults
These strikes occur amidst escalating military action in Ukraine, highlighting the protracted and systematic nature of Russia's campaign. The deliberate targeting of power grids and residential areas risks severely worsening the humanitarian situation in affected regions, creating significant challenges for local authorities tasked with maintaining essential services for the population. Such infrastructure attacks have become a common tactic, aiming to disrupt civilian life during the winter months.
