According to TSN.ua: A malfunction in the gas distribution network in the city of Kozyatyn, Vinnytsia region, led to fires breaking out in several residential buildings. By 12:25, multiple reports had been received of fires in three apartments on Heroes of Maidan Street and in a private house on Antonovycha Street.

Units from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) extinguished the fires by 13:40. Their prompt response also succeeded in normalizing the pressure within the gas system. The emergency service is currently investigating the cause of the pressure surge.

Consequences of the Incident

This incident follows a recent, deadly gas explosion in Khmelnytskyi, which resulted in two fatalities. The fires in Kozyatyn caused alarm among residents, but the swift action of emergency responders minimized the damage.

The state of Ukraine's gas distribution infrastructure remains a significant challenge, underscoring the critical importance of rapid emergency response.
